MAD on Ice to return to El Dorado this year
Pam Griffin, President and CEO of the Murphy Arts District, has confirmed the return of MAD on Ice for the 2020 season. For the second year, the Murphy Arts District will be hosting this ice-skating activity in the city of El Dorado, Arkansas. The event will be open to the public starting on November 20 and ending on January 3 of 2021. The ice-skating is available to both children and adults, and the operational hours for the regular week as well as the holiday hours will be posted on eldomad.com/madonice.
I got very excited when I saw this announcement, because I think a fun activity that the whole family can enjoy is just what people need right now. This year has been one of unpleasant surprises and, for most people, many hard times. I think most children and adults alike could really use something to help them relax and enjoy time with their family and friends. With COVID-19 still very much a reality, the Murphy Arts District has announced that they will be following the coronavirus guidelines very closely.
Some of these guidelines include
being required to wear a mask, as well as a limited capacity being enforced on the rink.
Joanna Benson, marketing coordinator, also said that all contact surfaces would
be wiped down every 90 minutes as an added precaution. I appreciate the fact
that the MAD is working hard to provide a fun environment for people while also
taking measures to keep everyone safe.
Personally, I have caught
myself complaining from time to time about there not being much to do around
Magnolia, so I am very excited about a new fun opportunity opening up in El
Dorado that will allow many of us college students to break away from the
stress of school and have fun. While the MAD on ice will be opening on the last
day of the semester, and many students will be going home, I am sure that there
will be some who take advantage of a new attraction and go to enjoy ice skating
before the holidays.
